Windows for Every Home Style

Match proportions, grids, frame colors and operating styles to the architecture instead of following one trend everywhere.

01

Modern / Contemporary

Large picture windows, casements, narrow grids or no grids, dark or neutral frames and strong horizontal/vertical alignment.

02

Farmhouse

Black or white frames, simple colonial grids, double-hung or picture combinations and balanced front elevations.

03

Ranch

Wide sliders, picture windows, casements and simple grids that complement the long, low elevation.

04

Tudor

Tall casements, grouped openings, diamond or traditional grids and proportions that preserve historic character.

05

Victorian

Tall, narrow windows, decorative shapes, divided-lite patterns and careful trim coordination.

06

Colonial

Symmetrical double-hung windows, consistent grids and disciplined spacing across the elevation.

07

Craftsman

Grouped windows, upper-sash grids, warm interior finishes and proportions that align with porch and trim details.

08

Spanish / Mediterranean

Arched or radius shapes, casements, dark or bronze frames and restrained grille patterns.

Avoid a common mistake

Do not choose grids one window at a time.

Grid pattern, rail height, frame color and mullion alignment should be reviewed across the full elevation. A technically good window can still look wrong when the proportions are not coordinated.

AAHR design review

Before ordering, compare exterior elevations, interior sightlines, room function and the relationship between windows and doors.
